Workers Party Tonight

It is scheduled to be held at the FES Hall, 140 N. Lee Avenue, Directions: Go West on F Street to Lee Avenue, turn North and proceed to Hall, directly across from school.

Supposed to begin around 6 p.m.

Quick Callbacks will be given here

Only one dog was dropped--and that is the pick up, #14

Dogs 49 and 55

Did fine... 49 a tad better...

Really Nice...

... Dog #48

And now for dogs 42, 46, 47, 38

A few whistles for them, along...

Dogs 32 and 36 and 37 and 40

all pretty good with a few whistles...

Dog 31

... nice job for Pete and Steve Yozamp

Dogs 85 and 28 and 29 and 30

... a few whistles along for each

Really nice job...

for dog 22, Billie and Karl Gunzer

Sadly--Dog #14, choppy start, left at end -- PICK UP

End of the road for FC-AFC Chatanika's High Water Haylee and Thomas Wilkerson

And Dogs 7, 15, 18, 20

Did well.

Dog #18 ran his line just left of the trail for nearly 7/8 the distance to the blind, just parallel, and joined the trail at the end.

Dog #20 was similar to #18 with the exception of a whistle about halfway whereas #18 carried nearly to the end of the blind without one.

Quick Re-bird and blind planter change

currently in progress...

A bit 'o trouble

... on a blind where you can probably only get hurt, dog #88 pulled right about halfway down, and then got straightened out, but then got a bit deep of the bird for a few extra whistles at the end.

Dogs 72, 2, 4, 5

... did well...

That being said, "...don't close your eyes..."

... what song did that come from? At any rate... don't blink...

Reagan, #84, had her own ideas about halfway to the blind... but Michael Moore quickly got her straightened out.

Dogs 71, 74, 78

all did well...

although #78 more or less blazed his own trail... right beside the prominent one.

Quite a Trail Has Developed...

... already

Dogs 60, 56, 58 and 70

... have all done well...

The Dogs are rolling right along...

I'm going to combine dogs in posts most likely. In my humble opinion, it appears that the work on this blind will be largely the same... if there is a break in that mold, this gal will speak up...

Dog #54...

... another good blind, this for Ali and Mark Smith

The Judges Want Four Holding Blinds Filled

Louie, #53, is running...

... he's rebounded nicely and has just turned in a good blind for handler Scott Dewey

First dog has run...

Dog #51... nice job for Al Arthur and Blue

The judges are waiting to begin...

Both Test Dogs Have Just Run...

... they did well.

Call Backs Sixth Series

38 Dogs are back.

Dog #51 will start this next test.

2, 4, 5, 7, 14, 15, 18, 20, 22, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, 53, 54, 55, 56, 58, 60, 70, 71, 72, 74, 78, 84, 85, 88

Water down...

Upon completion of the honor, Marshal Linda Harger approached Shock to water his head and body down...

Dog #55 in the holding blind--Now on line

Right now, Paul is handling Shock to the middle bird. Keep in mind he's already been scored on this bird.

Now, he's en route to the left flyer. And currently handling to it. He's already been scored on this one, too. Has it--coming in.

He's headed up to the right-hand flyer. Made a tight loop at bottom of the cover, up and hunting flat and somewhat wide, down to edge of cover in flat again, and back up and around, he's still trying to hunt up this bird. The bird was a tight angle back fall. He's surely trying to stay with the bird.

He's got the bird. The gallery applauds.

Re-run is about to commence

The bye dog has approached the line to assume the honor.

Time Out--This Series Not Done

Dog #55 is being given another re-run.

He's being given some time to rest and cool off.

The judges will be doing call backs in the meantime.

It is my understanding that on this re-run, he will only be judged on the right-hand flyer.

Next Series--Sixth--Land Blind

It's my understanding it will be somewhere in this immediate vicinity

Last dog on line... HANDLE

Dog #55 is doing his re-run and has picked up the middle bird first. He's now en route to the left bird, and now has that flyer. One bird to go.

Paul is now handling on the right-hand flyer.

Hornets--wasps are currently everywhere up here

They are swarming around...

Dog #78 is up for the third time...

Got the middle bird first, the left flyer second (it was a short fall) and is now after the right flyer..

Merlyn now has all three for handler Jerry Patopea.

HANDLE for Dog #15...

... Moses is currently being handled to the middle bird from deep by handler Wayne Curtis. And nicely has the left bird and is coming in.

Quite a middle bird hunt in progress... HANDLE

for Dog #14... and now, Haylee is going wide left for the left flyer, and now has that bird.

Okay for Dog #85

on three birds for Alan Pleasant and Ozzie, (FC RSK's Oohs and Aahs)

Mercy on Line...

Dog #7, FC-AFC Mercy Mercy Mercy Me... is out in the left flyer area right now... has two nice marks under her belt... now with a few loops and around the holding blind area, has the bird for handler Paul Sletten.

Dog to the line... #5

Nice job for Duce, (FC DoubleDuce) with a hunt just a bit deep and back to the middle bird and a job on the left flyer going straight out toward the bird with a circle and into the bird for handler Bill Eckett.

The Bird Issue in the Field Has Been Resolved...

A Bird On The Loose

A pheasant got away from the left station and lighted down by the middle bird. Currently a human hunt is on for this bird...

HANDLE on left flyer for Dog #4

... Bullet went wide and commenced to hunting wide and short of the flyer; after several loops, Dave Rorem handled him to the bird. He came back and got the middle bird nicely.

He's on the honor mat now.

Second No-Bird for Dog #78

Dog #74 on the re-run...

... is currently hunting her third bird, the middle bird. And now, she's got it... She also hunted the left flyer... with a big loop and got it.

This is Charlene Koeth with Molly B

Dog #75 re-run.... PICK UP

Diva got the right flyer, and has been sent for the middle bird. She's probably got handler Paul Sletten on his toes because she's made some wide loops right-handed toward the flyer area while searching for the middle bird, and now she has found the middle bird.

After a big hunt on the left flyer, Paul is picking up Diva right now.

Catching up with No-Birds...

Running order 75, 74 and 78...

Grady has two ...

.. and is up in the left flyer area, hunting around the holding blind and out in the area of the fall... and now has the bird. Nice for Chad Baker and NAFC-FC Cody Cut A Lean Grade

Pink is hunting the middle bird... HANDLE

Dog #88, FC-AFC Seaside's Get The Party Started... went right of the middle bird, hunted and then got a bit deep and now is being handled by Al Arthur... has the bird...

Pretty substantial hunt on the left flyer and now has it.

Reagan-- Got 'Em!

With a medium hunt on the left flyer... #84, FC-AFC Citori's Vista 40th Pres and Michael Moore are on the honor mat.

Dog #67 on line for re-run... Whew...

Really--Whew. That was a tough fall on the right flyer for Lilly, (the bird was short and inline from the line with the guns/station) but thankfully she got it handily and is headed back to handler Bill Sargenti.

Lilly got way wide of the left flyer and put on a ranging hunt there. She's being handled now. And Lilly had a nice middle bird to complete the test.

Diesel Has Been Excused From Honor...

... After honoring through three no-birds, the Judges have released Alan Pleasant and Diesel.

No-Bird on Dog #78

No-Bird Dog #75

No Bird for #74 on right flyer

And #72, Diesel Does Well...

... Nice set of marks for #72, Premier's RSK Powerstroke and handler Alan Pleasant.

Emmit is Up...

... Nice right-hand flyer, good hunt in the area of the left flyer, and a really nice middle bird for FC Watermark's Running Back and handler Jim Gonia

Crowd pleaser for Dog #70

That is Piper (FC Wing Magic's Standpipe Moon) and Mark Edwards.

No-bird for Dog #67...

HANDLE on the middle bird Dog #65

Aero has just been handled on the middle bird by Dave Rorem... he went in to the mark and circled it a few times, and then checked out...

This was after a pretty tidy hunt on the left flyer.

Geese have been trading around all day...

Ali's Re-run up now...

... #54, FC-AFC Lane's Lets Get Ready To Rumble, had a nice right flyer and then went in on the middle bird and jumped all over it before picking it up... now is out on the left-hand flyer.

Really nice left flyer for handler Mark Smith. Nice job.

Tyson is Up... Good Job!

... Two down, nice middle bird!... Handler Alan Pleasant is sending him (FC-AFC Sureshot's TKO) for the left flyer now... Way to go, Tyson!

A Gun Change in Progress...

Hunt on the right flyer... Dog #61 HANDLE MIDDLE

Windy (NFC-AFC Candlewood's Something Royal) hunted down to the dry reservoir bed while searching for her flyer...

Now she's had a relatively long sweeping left flyer hunt and is headed in with that bird.

When sent for the middle bird, she headed up toward the right flyer area, and handler Ken Neil put the horn on her to bring her into the middle bird.

Photographer Molly Schlachter is Set Up...

... in the parking area. Please check out her display...

Tiny, #58, has just done nicely on the middle bird...

after a bit of hunt on the right flyer... getting it second for handler John Henninger...

now has his left flyer--good job, FC Little Bit Dangerous

Contestants--Pins At Hostess Wagon

Many contestants still haven't collected their NRC pins, which were not included in this year's packets. If you don't yet have yours, please pick it up from the Hostess Wagon.

Update on Louie

Current notification is that Louie has been hosed down and rehydrated and that he has multiple attendants back in the parking area; that he's gone down before, and that the prognosis is good. Continued positive thoughts are being sent his way...

Re-run Dog #48 up now... HANDLE

... with a hunt on the right-hand flyer and some zigs and zags short of the middle retired, Bart (FC-AFC Lil Bit's Cote D'Or Pinot Noir) is now hunting the left flyer for handler Alan Pleasant

Alan is now handling Bart on the left-hand flyer.

Dog #56 has collected his birds...

Casey, (Vista's Case of Purple) and handler Randy Koch...

Casey's left flyer was quite long, and he had a hunt but got out there to it

Bye Dog on Honor, Dog #56 coming to line

Dog #55 will run at the end...

... complications, the judges have asked this dog to be picked up

Dog Went Down on the Honor

... While waiting on the honor mat for the no-bird to be collected, dog #53, having had a hunt and handle, went wobbly and down on the mat. Handler Scott Dewey scooped him up and Bill Daley is transporting him to assistance on a four-wheeler. Hope for the best for Louie and Scott.

No-bird Right Flyer #54

Louie has scooped up the middle bird... HANDLE

... #53, FC-AFC Candlewood GoldenDaze Louie had a nice right flyer... and is currently out around the holding blind on the left flyer.

After a hunt and getting right, handler Scott Dewey has just handled Louie to the bird... how did he miss it? Ouch.

Blue had a nice job...

Dog #51, FC-AFC Sara's Blue Streak had a nice right flyer and nice middle bird and a tidy hunt on the left flyer for handler Al Arthur

Willie currently is hunting left flyer...

Dog #49 NFC Two Rivers Lucky Willie) had a nice right-hand flyer and is now conducting a ranging hunt on the left flyer... now he has it. Handler Dave Rorem is about to send for the middle bird.

Got it immediately!

Due to dog shuffling of running order...

... the gun change will take place after #61... although it is after the same number of dogs as originally scheduled...

Who Said It?

"Good dogs make good dog trainers."

No Bird on left flyer for #48...

Gun Change Scheduled After Dog #60

What a nice left flyer for Boss! And Stellar Middle!

Dog #47, FC Me D Boss has just been sent for his middle bird by handler Jim Gonia--

Yes--Stellar!

Sugar, #46, has her right-hand flyer quickly...

and now, she's gone in nicely for her middle retired mark... and has it...

Sugar went deep up the hill on the left flyer but then came right back down and is conducting a sweeping hunt in the area of the flyer and flyer retired station...

Sugar (FC-AFC Shadows Sweet Something) now has her third bird for handler Chris Ledford.

Big and wide right-hand flyer hunt... HANDLE Middle

for dog #44, and Ruckus now has the bird...

Ruckus then hunted on the left flyer... and went deep on the middle bird and handled back to it... FC Contempt of Court and Ray Voigt

Hunting hard in the left flyer area...

Dog #42, Tia... she has found the bird. Coming in...

FC-AFC Bayou-Star Beyond Independent now has her middle retired for handler Danny Farmer.

Eva covered a lot of ground...

Dog #40 ( FC-AFC Eva-Ethyl-Proby-Weber) hunted a large area before recovering the left-hand flyer. She now has the middle bird and is back to handler Lanse Brown.

Sent for left flyer second, #38... hunting

FC-AFC Machthree's Edge is hunting the left flyer... now has it and is returning.

She's now got the middle bird nicely and is back to handler Steve Yozamp, setting up on the honor mat.

Dog #37--After a big hunt deep of middle -- HANDLE

Streak (FC-AFC Dixie City Jam II) has hunted hard deep of the middle bird, and then had a big handle to recover the bird. He has it now.

And has the left flyer, for handler Al Arthur.

Dog #36... a long hunt is underway... HANDLE

on the retired left flyer. He has the other two marks nicely.

This is FC Watermark's BB Standing Ovation (Bravo) and handler Bill Eckett.

He has handled to the bird.

Dog #35 has kicked things off-HANDLE / PICK UP

... good luck!

He went deep on his second send and then put on a hunt mostly right of the left flyer holding blind; handler Alan Pleasant has just handled Chopper (FC Maplecreek's Mini Chopper) to that left flyer.

Chopper missed the middle bird, was hunting and getting dangerously close to the right flyer area, and Alan started to handle and then picked him up.

He's honoring on lead.

Test dog is going to the line ...

Keyed on the right flyer...

... the left flyer is still extremely difficult to see, but the ground fog is much less obtrusive... Mary Ahlgren is handling Poncho on the middle retired at present.

Waiting for the fog to lift...

... reminds me of a song... waiting for a star to fall... anyway, that tune just crossed into my mind... crazy, huh!

Very still...

A watchful eye from above over the morning proceedings...

From L to R -- Lee Jolley, John Goettl, Ed Haskins (his back) and Gary Ahlgren

It's a very quiet morning thus far... looks can be deceiving. Day Four of the 2011 National Open Championship will be underway soon...
